A common issue in Dynamics Nav is invisible characters which are usually but not always carriage return feeds.
These are caused by a user copying direct from Excel (whole cell) into a field in Dynamics Nav. Examples usually include names, addresses and email addresses.
This is NOT caused by data imported using the data migration utility in Dynamics Nav.
Once this data exists on a field, any copying and pasting (or sending to) excel will mean random line feeds in excel which means that if not spotted any subsequent data sorting in Excel causes
inconsistent sorting and data corruption. If not spotted.
So how do you fix? Basically look for and delete characters codes.

Obviously as Dynamics Nav is upgraded and improved by Microsoft, amendments are made and new functionality is added.
This section focuses on one amendment (of thousands) that may cause an issue if a client has different database version compared to application version.
Dynamics Nav can have different application and database versions. So you can be using Dynamics Nav application version 2009 but database objects version 4. This is just an example. How can you
tell? Just select Help, About Dynamics Nav from the main menus. The resulting splash screen will show if the versions are different.
In version 2009 the maximum character length was increased from 250 to 1000 characters. So if the client is using application version 2009 but database version 4, for example, Nav will allow you
to create a text with 1000 characters but when you run the database you will get a text overflow error message. You know the one I mean!!
The only way to resolve this, short of upgrading the database version, is to restrict the text to 250 characters.
